Colin Nugent was born on the 5th July 1946. He went to school in Chigwell and studied history at Nottingham, doing his teacher training the following year. In 1968 he took up his first teaching post at a Leeds comprehensive, moving south to London in 1972 to take up a position in Enfield. In 1973 he met Beryl (nee Cole) at an autojumble marrying the same year, and in 1974 they had their only son, David. David married Samantha in 1994 and in 1999 they had a daughter (Colin’s granddaughter) Sophie, who penned her own letters alongside Colin.
Colin took early retirement in 2006, aged 60, disillusioned with the education system. His final post was as head of history in a private school. Colin’s hobbies are gardening, aero modeling and mahjong. He drives a Ford Focus, attends church occasionally and has had several letters published in the papers. And that’s it.
