The Facts
Colin wrote over 200 letters. To some he wrote once, to others, there were several exchanges. Of those 200 over half received responses, and of those around 50 brought a reply from the big cheese. Only two organisations turned sour; British Telecom and the Post Office, ironic these should be the organisations charged with getting us to communicate. The Americans were by and large rubbish, refusing to read any letters for fear that Colin might later seek copyright over his ideas. It took a year, cost £50 in postage and, in an age of electronic mail, showed a letter can still punch above its weight.
